				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I am quite excited to announce that on March 21 and 22, Emory University will be hosting Professor <a href="http://racheladams.net/">Rachel Adams</a> of Columbia University for the 2013 Kemp Malone Lecture. While here, Professor Adams will participate in the following events:</p>
<div>On<span style="text-decoration: underline"> Thursday, March 21</span><span style="text-decoration: underline"><sup>th</sup></span><span style="text-decoration: underline"> at12 p.m.</span>, Professor Adams will lead a <span style="text-decoration: underline">seminar on memoir and disability</span>. Readings will be short selections from books in the Corporealities: Discourses of Disability series, including Tobin Siebers’ <i>Disability Theory</i> and G. Thomas Couser’s <i>Signifying Bodies: Disability in Contemporary Life Writing</i>, as well as an excerpt for Professor Adams forthcoming book <i>Aiming High Enough:  A Memoir</i> (Yale University Press 2013). We will meet in the Woodruff Library’s Research Commons. <span style="text-decoration: underline">Lunch will be provided</span>. <div>On <span style="text-decoration: underline">Thursday, March 21</span><span style="text-decoration: underline"><sup>th </sup></span><span style="text-decoration: underline">at 4 p.m.</span>, Professor Adams will deliver her <span style="text-decoration: underline">keynote address</span>, “Forbidden Intimacies: Sexuality &amp; Intellectual Disability,” in the Few Multipurpose Room G27, immediately followed by a brief reception and refreshments.</div>

<div>Finally, on <span style="text-decoration: underline">Friday, March 22</span><span style="text-decoration: underline"><sup>nd</sup></span><span style="text-decoration: underline"> at 9 a.m.,</span> Professor Adams will be joined by WGSS Professor Rosemarie Garland-Thomson for a discussion on <span style="text-decoration: underline">graduate student professionalization</span>. Professors Adams and Garland-Thompson will give short presentations on their experiences with public scholarship, and will then open the discussion to questions or comments on professionalization, public scholarship, or other topics of interest in Professor Adams work. <span style="text-decoration: underline">Breakfast will be provided</span>. We will meet in the Kemp Malone Library, N301 Callaway Center.
